Cash used to be king, but mobile wallets could be next to take the throne. Results from the fifth annual State of Payments Report<\/em> by Marqeta, say more than half of U.S. consumers surveyed have at least one card in their mobile wallet. And 53% of them leave their physical wallets at home, leaving them with only a mobile pay option for buying<\/a>. That rises to 67% for Gen Z, those 18 to 25.<\/p>\n

More Mobile Wallet Use At Work<\/h2>\n

More than a fourth of the survey responders said they feel awkward paying with cash. For those ages 18 to 34, that number goes up to 49%. Another interesting fact is that nearly one-third of responders use less cash now than they did 12 months ago. That shows a clear move towards digital payments. This is important to remember when considering a cafeteria or Bellevue snack station with healthy products<\/a>. To use it, employees feel more comfortable with non-cash options meaning the best solutions offer flexible payments.<\/p>\n

Unconcerned About Cashless Society<\/h2>\n

Based on the report, most Americans aren\u2019t worried about a cashless society. It stated that 71% were neutral or did not have any worries about moving to a world where we pay mostly without cash.<\/p>\n
